Buzdar (or Bozdar (Urdu: بزدار) is a Baloch tribe, priarily found in the mountainous area of the Koh e Suleiman range situated both in theBalochistan and Dera Ghazi Khan district of Punjab province.
Etymology and origin
British ethnologist H. A. Rose noted that their name is said to derive from the Persian buz ("goat"). He also stated that the tribe is not descended from the Baloch patriarch Rind, but from a goat-herd who married the widow of Rind's great-grandson, Shaun Ali
according to some arthor buzdar is a persian word mean "the person who is owner of blue horse"(Dr.Arif imran buzdar university of veterinary and animal sceinces lahore).[1]
Sub-tribes
There are many sub-tribes of Bozdar, such as Rustamani(Largest tribe of buzdar mostly living in disst.Dera Ghazi Khan and Koh-e-suleman) Dulani, Chakrani, Ladwani Ghulamani, Sihani, Shahwani, Jalalani,and Jafirani, .[2]
History
Historically, the Bozdar held a feud with the neighboring Ustarana and Sherani tribes. In 1857 their raids into the Punjab drew upon them an expedition under Brigadier-General Sir N. B. Chamberlain. The Sangarh pass was captured and the Bozdars submitted.buzdars are widly distributed in the three provinces of pakistan punjab,sindh and balochistan excapt khyber pashtokhawh.They are playing important role in the upgradtion of pakistan in pakistan as well as in foriegn countries
